Layer up different weathered coastal colours and add natural materials for plenty of texture and interest. When adding accessories, arrange them in small groups, in a haphazard way, in keeping with the whole informal look. It is one of Minecraft’s best beach house ideas, especially if you love to live alone and don’t want to be disturbed by other players. Find yourself a private island first and start working on this creative project. Using lanterns in and outside the building will significantly increase the house’s beauty.

Bring elegant coastal decor to your bathroom

The primary structure, as well as the ceiling, is made of quartz blocks. Moreover, the walls are made of brick blocks and decorated with black frame glass blocks. This beautiful dining room features a statement woven pendant light, striped jute rug, and neutral color palette for a touch of modern beach house style. White walls and ceilings, as well as white oak flooring, wood beams, and neutral furniture and decor, bring an upscale look to this modern beach house dining room. Take your love of beach-style design to the next level with oceanic decorating ideas imbuing dreamy homes.

Limit Your Color Scheme

As blue is known as the nation’s favorite color, it’s no surprise it’s still top of the color trends. While there’s a hue for every style of home, there’s nothing quite like a cerulean blue kitchen idea in a coastal property, where it will echo the shades of the sea and sky. Keep it modern by offsetting the soft blues with a crisp marble backsplash and countertop. Breathing new life into the classic beach house look, this scheme features a breezy palette of greige, from soft shades through to darker tones.

You can use stone blocks, smooth quartz, and jungle wood to make the primary structure of the building. While there are many mansion ideas in the game, this beach mansion house is like no other in Minecraft. What makes it different from others is its size; it’s small, unlike many mansions in the game. You can create a beautiful hut with two orange beds at the coast for sunbathing.

The architects made sure to include plenty of beautiful outdoor areas which can be enjoyed throughout the day, like a big al fresco dining area with a bbq station and a nice open deck with a hot tub. One objective was to frame the views in a seamless and natural way. If you are after a new sofa to go in your coastal inspired living room, make sure you have a read through our guide to buying a sofa. To make up for this the architects included a rooftop terrace into the design. This example is not as open toward the ocean, and is positioned a towards the back of the property. The trees and vegetation act as a shallow barrier between the house and the water. The architects had to deal with certain restrictions such as the fact that there was no way of bringing heavy equipment on-site or for concrete trucks to reach this area. The site is positioned at the bottom of a super steel slope which acts as a cool backdrop for the new house. This house takes the place of a small coastal cabin that used to sit on this property on Camano Island, in Washington.

Expert Tips for Getting the Beach House Interior Design Style

Something like Farrow & Ball's Stone Blue or Cook's Blue would work well in a coastal style interior. Combine the traditional seaside look and the more contemporary, rustic beach house look by keeping with the whole mix of materials thing, but adding in a few hints of blue. We love how this blue carpet looks against the limewashed floor, and the cushions are just the right amount of nautical without venturing into Life's better at the beach territory. Players can experiment with many beach house ideas on tropical islands in Minecraft. If you are out of ideas, you can build a simple beach house using our guide to boost your creativity.

If you have any glass fronted or open cabinetry use this to display glass jars, small wicker baskets and nice pieces of crockery. Ramp up the seaside feel by adding some driftwood sculptures, rattan lanterns and seagrass wall hangings. Much like the bedroom above, there's not a sea shell in sight in this gorgeous dining room, but you still get that beachy feel because of the neutral colour palette and all those natural elements. We love the big vase of natural grass as a contrast to all those pale colours; you could obviously source the real thing but Wayfair actually do some pretty realistic looking versions. If the more traditional blue and nautical stripes aren't quite your thing but you love the light, airy feel of coastal interiors, a simple neutral palette can be just as effective at evoking those holiday feels.

This beach home interior design incorporates flowy linen drapes for a beachy feel. On the other, they evoke a coastal, airy feeling in the room while adding texture and interest. As a result, it evokes a feeling of living in the tropics, close to the seaside. Natural hues, inspired by the outdoors, create an outside-indoor air. A small touch can bring a coastal look to contemporary beach interiors. This chic bedroom, for instance, has a fun scallop scatter pillow right at its center.

Coastal artwork brings a lighthearted feeling to this beach themed bedroom. Rustic woods, warm bamboos, rattans, and earthy elements are key to a beach-inspired look, as shown in this beautiful living room. What this small kitchen lacks in square footage, it makes up for in charm.

"The wood walls keep things from feeling sterile," says Mandy, who also introduced an assortment of honey-hued wooden accents to warm up the look. "It's a no-brainer for furniture that's in the middle of the action." Window treatments and bedding should continue the light and air-enhancing effect of the other beach house interior features. Sheer fabric diffuses harsh incoming sunlight to keep the room evenly lit without being abrasive. Whether you have a beach house in need of on-theme decoration, or just dream of some day adding one to your real estate portfolio, here are 20 stylish ideas for getting your coastal getaway into ship-shape. This dining room has an undeniable coastal look with its inverted color scheme.

This collection from John Lewis is just the right amount of seaside without becoming too twee. Note how there is a healthy mix of your obviously sea inspired motifs (starfish, crabs, etc) and non-maritime prints too, to keep the look fresh and modern. If you aren't ready to commit to a full on striped sofa, maybe an armchair might be a better idea? We love the Scandi feel of the  Calmsden Armchair, upholstered in Lapland Stripe from Vanessa Arbuthnott. Why not pinch this idea and mix the soft coastal look with more striking pieces like sculptural dark wooden furniture? If your love of coastal interiors goes beyond a few anchors printed on cushions and a shell wallhanging, think about investing in a classic striped sofa as the focal point of your living room.

The natural textures contrast beautifully with upholstered cushions while complementing wooden tables, jute baskets, and natural fiber lamp shades. Beach house interior designs distance themselves from other seaside styles with their fun yet not over-the-top blend of colors against the layered neutrals. A bright pale yellow recalls the sunny outdoors, while coral, turquoise, and seafoam evoke the cooling waters just beyond the sand. Sunny days by the coast can come with almost blinding whites as light reflects on the rolling waves and sandy beaches.

That’s why patterns, indistinct forms, and abstracts fit a beach-style home so well. Use a typical seaside to inspire and guide you when picking artwork. You’ll quickly identify the colors and shapes you like most and select beach-inspired designs that’ll suit your home best. Thanks to the mix of white, subtle sandy tones, and a pop of blue, the result is a calm yet well-thought-out space.

Aluminum and steel external wall element features can appeal to those looking for an industrial or retro finish, and both are strong weather-resistant materials. In addition, solid stone walls can provide architectural interest and character to a home's façade and blend well with other design materials. In the United States, as of July 2023, the average cost to build a new home can range anywhere from $150+ to $500+ per square foot. However, regarding modern homes specifically, you might expect to be on the higher end of this spectrum or even exceed it due to the factors mentioned earlier.

Some other inspiring ways we’ve seen designers take on this trend include natural materials on places like cabinets and fixtures designed to mimic natural features like leaves and waterfalls. The modern design transforms these areas into serene sanctuaries with comfortable seating, natural light, and calming color palettes. Modern architecture has evolved over the decades, and some of the design essentials that were present at inception are no longer as commonplace and have been replaced by more modern updates. For example, as environmental awareness has increased, so too has the importance of sustainable design.

One of the more important natural features of contemporary homes is the use of natural light, whether by large windows in uncommon positions, panoramic window walls, or ample skylights. In addition, modern homes often incorporate advanced technology, such as smart home systems, and sustainable features, like solar panels or energy-efficient appliances. While these features offer long-term savings in energy costs, they can significantly increase the upfront building costs. While following the latest trends can be fun, lately designers have been seeing a shift towards homeowners going off the beaten bath and creating spaces that are uniquely their style. Whether you’re looking to bring the California style to another region or looking to move to San Francisco and build a home, we have a plan for you.

Puerto Limon San Jose, Costa Rica

puerto limon cruise port

Worth the trip to Limon alone -- the Aerial Tram ride at Rain Forest, a 1,000-acre nature reserve next to the Braulio Carrillo National Park. This is one of two such centers run by a private foundation (the other is of a smaller scale and nearer the Pacific Coast). These are well spaced out and travel silently at just over one mile per hour so you can soak up the atmosphere and the unique experience of being up among the treetops of a rain forest.

Packing for Limon Costa Rica

The closest beach available would be Playa Bonita which is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from the port. If you want you can take a taxi to Playa Bonita for 10 US dollar per person. Most of them (Puntarenas and Puerto Caldera) are located on the Pacific / southern side of the country.

Where You're Docked?

One thing we have noticed though is that usually when it rains, it at least often rains at night. This area can be somewhat unsafe at night so please don’t walk around alone. It is best to drive or use a registered taxi while in downtown Limon. The ride will take you about two and a half hours and will cost about $12 per person for one way. Puerto Limon, Costa Rica Cruise Port

The port often doesn’t hand out any tourist maps or other sort of information although you will find there are lost of locals around which are more than happy to help you find your way. Cruise ships visiting Puerto Limon in Costa are able to dock in this port of call. Limon’s port offers a separate pier for cruise ships and is fully equipped with a cruise terminal, taxi stand and souvenir market. The rest of the port is all dedicated to the export of Costa Rican products which is mainly coffee from the central valley. Puerto Limon is not the main reason cruise ships visit this port. It is simply the gateway to Costa Rica from the Caribbean side.

This beach can be reached by taxi if you plan to visit on your own and spend as much time as you would like. The country is full of volcanic mountains, lush valleys, and virgin tropical rainforests supporting a diverse mixture of plant and animal life. Costa Rica has preserved almost one-quarter of its land area as national parks or preserves. Some of the exciting shore excursion options revolve around these national parks or the Costa Rican countryside.

Explore Cahuita National Park

Limón offers a large central market that includes several different vendors, both food and other goods. This is a great choice for a few hours tour that includes pick up and drop off at Port Limón. Personally, it is one of my absolute favorite things to do in Limon. Check out this tour for an all-day whitewater rafting adventure priced at $132 USD. You will travel over 18 miles of river, and transportation from Limón is included in the package. This tour will provide transportation both ways to and from Port Limón.

Whitewater rafting down Pacuare River is a must-do for adventure seekers. This river is located about 60 minutes north of Limón and is accessible by taxi or through a guided tour. If you travel further south to Puerto Viejo, you can take a snorkeling tour out to see a shipwreck sight.

You can find lots of nice places to stay there, such as Wildlife Lodge Cahuita, Bungalows Aché Cahuita, and Passion Fruit Lodge. Room rates at Hotel Playa Westfalia began at $74 USD per night. For budget travelers, Casa Caribe is a top choice if you don’t mind staying in a self-check-in apartment. Maestros Wine & Grill – It has a cozy feel to it and offers a wide selection of wine and food. This upscale restaurant is open every day from 11 am to 10 pm on Monday and Tuesday, 10 am to 10 pm on Wednesday, 10 am to 11 pm on Thursday and Friday, 10 am to 11 pm on Saturday, and 9 am to 10 pm on Sunday.

This is when food vendors are there, and you are more likely to see sloths hanging in the trees. You’ll find red taxis right outside the pier that can whisk you away to nearby beaches or other top sites near the Puerto Limon cruise port. Shore excursions are another convenient way to get around the region since the buses will meet you right outside the cruise port. Taxi drivers in Puerto Limon are typically open to negotiating the price for where you want to go before you depart.

It also includes a guide that will be able to point out the amazing animals that live along the riverfront. Tours start at only $107 USD and start running early in the morning until late. The park was set up in 1971 to protect the rare wildlife here which includes the Green Turtle and the best way to travel these canals is to take an open-air boat tour.

The cruise terminal has a welcome center and souvenir market. Until 2018, as a cruise shore excursion option from Puerto Limon were offered guided bus tours to the capital city of San Jose (road distance is ~160 km / 100 mi). However, due to the bad roads, traffic and mountains, it takes minimum 4 hours to drive (each way) between Puerto Limon and San Jose. This requires the ships to stay in Puerto Limon much longer than usual (~12 hours), so San Jose is usually visited from Puntarenas.

The island doesn’t have much in terms of tourist facilities, but you might even see some local surfers catching the waves. Isla Uvita also has a place in history since it is where Christopher Columbus landed on his last journey across the Atlantic to the Americas. Costa Rica is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Central America, and Puerto Limon is the most important Costa Rican port in the Caribbean.

Cahuita National Park is located about an hour from the city of Limón. We like this tour a lot because you can see a ton of wildlife in a short amount of time and the park is just amazing. If you’re planning to walk to the city center, it’s only about 250 yards from the cruise terminal. A helpful map of the city is located right before you leave the port and has recommended walks on it as well. The Tortuguero Canals, which were turned into a national park in 1975, were named after the local green turtle (called Tortuguero) which uses the canals to spawn.

If there was ever a country created for eco-tourism, it is Costa Rica. Effectively a biological corridor between North and South America and with its neo-tropical climate and rainforests acting as a sort of biosphere, it now has one of the greatest biological diversities in the world. Doesn't that sound like a great port to include on your next cruise itinerary to Costa Rica. Nearly a quarter of its landmass is designated as national parks and it houses 8,000 species of plants, 859 species of birds, 10% of the world's butterflies and as many snakes as you could shake a stick at. Like any port in the Caribbean you will find that the Puerto Limon cruise port is filled with souvenir shops in abundance.

Puerto Limon-Moin port (locode CRLIO) has two cargo terminals (named "Moín" and "Limon"), which handle Costa Rica's shipping exports and imports (bulk and containership cargoes), as well as docking of cruise vessels. Port Puerto Limon cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link. Limon is home to several outdoor attractions, including nature thrills like river rafting and zip-lining. If you're a nature fan looking for a more contemplative outing, then head to the Tortuguero Canal, where you can paddle among water lilies, orchids and sea turtles.

From here you get to explore its wonderful capital city San Jose, visit the beautiful coffee plantations and enjoy its immens and diverse ecological wonders in the rain forest. Create the opportunity to get an encounter with the landscape and nature, because at this point Costa Rica is het “greenest” country in the world. Puerto Limon is a popular cruise ship port on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, Central America.

A large selection of artisan stores and unique restaurants are there to welcome visitors into the artistic community.

This port’s location makes it an ideal hub in the cruising industry, as it serves as a convenient departure port for passengers from not only surrounding areas, but those coming from afar to visit New York. If you’re sailing with Cunard, MSC Cruises, or Princess Cruises out of New York, your cruise will be departing from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Each of these cruise lines offer exciting itineraries across the globe, ranging from Caribbean destinations in the Bahamas, to uniquely curated fall foliage experiences on Canada/New England sailings.

ACL-American Cruise Lines introduces exclusive New England voyages in 2024

Sail the same seas as legendary Norse explorer Leif Erikkson (on a far more luxurious Viking ship) while learning about the American Revolution and Canadian exploration from the cruise line’s resident historian. Lounge by the pool, visit the spa, or look out for whales and puffins. Viking has several nearly identical ocean ships sailing this itinerary from New York—each can accommodate a maximum of 930 passengers, allowing them to dock in ports larger ships cannot access.

Regent Seven Seas cruises are known for all-inclusive luxury. While this can offset costs drastically, especially for those who already have bus passes, this option may not be ideal for large families, or those with physical limitations, as there is some walking involved. Take the whole family on a Princess Cruise from Brooklyn, New York.

Although there are no direct shuttles from any hotel in the Brooklyn area, this option is arguably the most convenient. Some of the lesser popular options when it comes to transportation is arriving by train, bus, or even a ferry boat, but New York has them all. If you plan on taking your own car to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, you will enter from the Bowne and Imlay Street intersection. Due to the terminal’s smaller size, and single pier, it is easily accessible with parking close by.

The Manhattan passenger terminal is on Hudson River (on Manhattan Island's shoreline), located is between West 44 and West 52 streets. Both Newark International Airport and LaGuardia Airport are located approx 15 mi (24 km) away, while JFK International Airport is approx 20 mi (32 km) away. In May 2013, Port NYC started a project to raise Bayonne Bridge in order to allow access to the world's largest container ships to the cargo ports of New York City and New Jersey (Elizabeth and Newark). The project also included dredging (deepening) the navigation channel. Red Hook may not be the most central location in Brooklyn, but you still have plenty of options for getting around.

During summer are operated mainly roundtrips to Bermuda as well as Transatlantic crossings (USA-UK/Southampton). In autumn are offered "Fall Foliage" cruises to Canada and New England USA. Cape Liberty Cruise Port is also in New York Harbor but is part of Bayonne City (New Jersey). Norwegian Prima is one of the best cruises for solo travelers departing from New York City. Cruises from New York sail to Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Europe, the United Kingdom, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and beyond. Additionally, there are accessible bathrooms for passengers with mobility impairments, as well as amenities for infants and young children.

If you’re taking a car to the cruise terminal, you’ll enter from the Bowne and Imlay Street intersection. Parking is on the south side of the terminal entrance (Brooklyn Pier 12) at 72 Imlay Street, overlooking the Statue of Liberty. Port Cape Liberty is in close proximity to EWR-Newark Liberty Airport (10 mi / 16 km to the west, ~20-min travel time by car) and easy to access, skipping NYC's heavy traffic and bridges. Costs were ~USD 10 million (to service one slip) and involve substantial infrastructure improvements. Ship operators must spend ~USD 1 million to make a vessel shorepower-ready. A typical container ship in port uses about as much energy as a single terminal at Boston’s Logan Airport, while RMS Queen Mary 2 requires 13 megawatts (equal to the entire airport).

Let the allure of the Empire State set the tone for your cruise adventure. They include stops in the Western Caribbean and at the private island of Ocean Cay. Be sure to request wheelchair service with your cruise line agent since you can’t do so with the terminal. Rideshare services, like Uber and Lyft, are an alternative to cabs.

Cruises from Brooklyn are easy to get to from Manhattan and from all over the region. And the borough has more attractions for cruise passengers than you might think. From Coney Island to the Botanic Gardens, Brooklyn has plenty to explore before or after your voyage. The restaurants of Brooklyn Heights, art in DUMBO, the Brooklyn Museum in the Slope, and the nightlife of Williamsburg are all part of the new Brooklyn charm. Restrooms are available before the entrance to the cruise terminal, before and after security screening, before check-in and in the boarding lounge. John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Newark International Airport (EWR) are the closest airports to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

Alaska Small Ship Cruises Best Selection & How to Choose

small cruise ship alaska

That generally translates to more personal, attentive service. Although we embarked in Vancouver, our smaller ship left late in the day, after the crowds for the big ships had cleared the terminal. Getting on and off during a port day was a breeze because tour groups were small and left at staggered times. The only time I had to wait to get on or off the ship was when the crew had to change the gangplank to a different level due to the rising tide. Plan ahead - Most spaces on Alaska cruises sell out 6-9 months in advance, so to avoid disappointment, book early so you can guarantee your space.
